Thanks for sharing your opinions. I can't say I agree, however.

You might enjoy my BSG post: http://ericwebster.wordpress.com/2008/04/28/battlestar-and-bob-dylan/

Hopefully I'll get round to writing posts on BSG concerning my other ideas soon.

Their values are more in agreement with mine than with Obama. Pretty simple (but not simplistic!).

I have a host of more specific reasons; unfortunately, not many of them are reasons to vote FOR McCain, but rather reasons to vote against Obama, I readily admit that. However, we have a majoritarian electoral system, so 2 choices is all we get.

A quick rundown of principles/ policies/ goals/ fears on which I disagree with Obama or bases on which I do not trust him (I am likely to miss some): wealth redistribution, supreme court judges, health care (any step toward more government involvement is a mistake IMO), more spending than even GWB, wants to increase the cap gains tax during economic instability, wants to raise the ceiling on SS taxes (BTW- I am poor. make less then 22k/yr in ky. full disclosure), entitlements, protectionism/ aversion to free trade (eg killing NAFTA), the Iraq war, inefficient market regulation, abortion (don't cry foul; the president appoints a lot of policy implementing personnel), missile defense, energy policies that effectively neuter any push toward nuclear infrastructure development and domestic oil drilling and shale exploration ("use it or lose it" is not an answer), wrongheaded foreign policy, unified legislature/ executive (I sort of have a soft spot for divided government), apparent comfort with extremist anti-American views (not saying he possesses those views himself), inexperience (143 days in the senate), naivete, promotion of class warfare, a terrible VP choice (could compile a whole list of reasons for this by itself: though touted as a "foreign policy juggernaut", the man voted against the FIRST Iraq war, wanted to split Iraq into 3 countries, etc etc, not to mention he's an embarrassing gasbag; say what you will about her, at least Palin shows signs of being a quick study.), fear of chicago-style political cronies being brought into washington, failure to keep promise to accept public campaign funding, "we are the ones we've been waiting for" (makes me physically ill- i know i know, this one is thin, but this is my list right?)..... i could go on.

My #1 reason though: judges. Obama said:

"We need somebody who’s got the heart, the empathy, to recognize what it’s like to be a young teenage mom. The empathy to understand what it’s like to be poor, or African-American, or gay, or disabled, or old. And that’s the criteria by which I’m going to be selecting my judges."

Right, Call me crazy, but I think we need someone who has the intellectual honesty to interpret law the same no matter who is standing in front of them.

LOVE the BSG icon btw.

You managed to express sarcasm clearly with only text, nicely done.

So why is it that you are voting McCain/Palin?

Yeah. You've certainly exhausted all the possibilities on this one. There is no possible way that a thinking person could genuinely understand and have a problem with the presuppositions, positions, and logical conclusions of Barack Obama's ideas. No possible way.
